merger of articles

[edit]

Wikipedia now has an article called magic hypercube (singular) and another called magic hypercubes (plural). Since they're both on the same topic, they should get merged into one article. Wikipedia:Manual of Style prescribes using the singular in an article title and making the plural a redirect page, except when there is some special reason for using the plural. Therefore I think the information in the article with the plural title should get merged into the other one. Can you participate in that? Michael Hardy 21:19, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

dear Mr Hardy.

As said in the "talk" on magic hypercubes I saw no reason to destroy what is on magic hypercube, with a higher quality introductory page on the subject. Also the magic hyperbeam is of the highest quality I can make it without going into "original research", my only two contributions to this site are merely introductory in nature. The singular / plural wikipedia hangover is something for you to decide, personally I don't destroy other peoples contributions, I merely wanted to add knowledge to the wikipedia, aggreeing in full with the NOR-principle, which in this field is real hard to accomplish which makes me add a few "beyond the scope of this article" remarks. No doubt get note of what's decided, some articles needs to correct some links after magic hypercube is replaced by magic hypercubes

NOTE: As said no real reason for merging other then wikipedia rules, in case the magic hypercubes could replace magic hypercube content (references could be added to those of magic hypercubes. However magic hypercubes makes no sense if magic hyperbeam is destroyed for some peculiar reason, which means that the entire magic squares section will remain void of decent quality introductions, as it currently is and up to grabs to destructive people pasting their own Original Research. For this I have my own website, the two article merely have some introductory content introducing terminology of serious hobby-researches after all it is recreational mathematics

merged the hypercube articles

[edit]

I thought I should let you know that I have just merged the hypercube articles, retaining all the content you wrote, but moved into Magic hypercube. If you feel that the articles should be separate, please consider naming the more detailed article something like "Mathematics of the magic hypercube" (just a suggestion, not a rule) instead of changing the singular to plural. Also, since you have typed in a large number of equations for that article, could you please change them to TeX markup when you have time? TeX-based equations look much nicer and readable than formatted plaintext. Thanks -- Brhaspati\talk/contribs 15:08, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
